Search Functions

This section will give you a quick orientation around the search function within iProfile Recruiter Account.

Job Title, Employer and Time Range

By searching using the Job Title box your results will show candidates who have specifically worked in the role you require. Unlike text searching the entire CV, the use of the job title field will search purely on the relevant iProfile structured data field. For example, searching for "project manager" will return results for people who have worked as a project manager, and not those who have mentioned in their CV that they have worked alongside the project manager.

By using the Employer as part of the search criteria you will be able to find candidates that have worked for a competitor company, or within employers with names that contain industry specific words such as 'Telecoms'.

As iProfile data is structured you also have the advantage of combining job title and employers searches with a specified time range or number of previous jobs that you want to search. For example, you will be able to look at candidates who are currently in 'project manager' roles as opposed to candidates who used to previously work in project management but who have now moved on to other roles.

Remember ...
Boolean logic used in the Job Title and Employer search boxes will maximise your search results.

Location

The Location search allows you to search either:

  • a town,
  • a city,
  • county,
  • region,
  • country or
  • postcode

After typing the first 2 letters, a drop down list of the most likely matches will appear in order of population size with the largest population at the top of the list. Simply click on a location on the list to select it.

You can then specify the desired Radius in the field below. It will default to 50km if you do not enter a value.

This search is based on the candidate's address details. Our unique verification process means that full, up-to-date, accurate contact details are in the iProfile, and this provides an improved data set for location searching.

Unlike other many products, all locations selected from the pop up list will also search multilingual synonyms meaning that there is no need to search individually for candidates in 'Switzerland' or 'Schweiz' or 'Suisse' - whichever you start to type will bring up 'Switzerland' in the pop up list; just select it and it will search against all the variations.

Keywords

The Keywords section is the only part of iProfile Recruiter Account that uses unstructured data; it searches against the candidate's CV. This is very useful search to use if you are looking for general skills, e.g. Unix and oracle or niche skills/phrases that would not be found within another of the iProfile Recruiter Account search fields, e.g. 'SV Clearance'.

Tags

Tagging allows you to group candidates under certain headings, for example 'SAP'. The Tags section allows you to search for candidates that have particular tags that you or someone in your company has previously assigned them. For more information on the tagging please take a look at the Tagging video.

The predictive text in the Tags box works in the same way as the location box text. Start typing into search box and a drop down list of the most likely matches will appear. Tags that have been used by other iProfile Recruiter Account users in your agency will be listed as '(Other Tag)' and the tags that you have used will be displayed as '(My Tag)'.

If the name of the tag you have typed does not bring back any matches, this means that this tag has not previously been used on any candidate records on iProfile Recruiter Account.

Select a tag from the list and it will be added to the search box. 'My Tags' that you have selected will be displayed in bold in the search box, whilst 'Other Tags' will be displayed in regular font. You can add as many tags to the search box as you like and Boolean logic can be used by typing the Boolean between the Tags.

To remove a tag from the search box, simply click on the 'x' at the end of the displayed tag.

Preference Selections

Availability

The availability is updated from two sources: either it is added by the candidate to their iProfile or it is the last date that the candidate applied for a role with an iProfile compatible agency.

To set an Availability date to your search, select one of the values from the drop down box. The values include:

  • Anytime,
  • 1 Day,
  • 2 Days,
  • 1 Week,
  • 2 Weeks,
  • 3 Weeks,
  • 1 Month,
  • 3 Months,
  • 6 Months or
  • 1 year

If you have no availability preferences, leave the field set to the default value of 'Anytime'. We recommend that you search for candidates with a 3 month availability date to get the most relevant candidates.

Job Type

The Job Type is most frequently updated when a candidate applies for a job and the value is automatically set depending on the role type. The user is also able to set the Job Type value from their iProfile.

To set a Job Type to your search, select one of the values from the drop down box. The values include:

  • Permanent or
  • Contract/Temo

If the candidate has a set their Joy Type value to 'All', the candidate will be returned when either search options of 'Permanent' or 'Contract\Temp' are used.

Candidate Name

If you need to find a specific candidate, simply type their name into this box.

Other Search features

Exact Match Only

You will notice that each section has a small star symbol. When a star is white against a blue background it means that the section is set to Exact Match Only. This means that only candidates that match exactly the criteria that you have used for the search will be returned. The Exact Match Only function will be switched on by default.

You can turn this function off by clicking the Exact Match Only tick box located next to the Search button. Alternatively, you can click on individual stars to create any combination of Exact Match Only search sections. When the Exact Match Only function is turned off, the star will be grey set against a darker grey background. By turning off this function, you are allowing candidates who are not an exact match to your criteria to be returned in a search. Your result set will still be returned in relevance order with the most relevant candidates listed at the top of the results grid.

Remember Last Search Criteria

To save your current search criteria, simply select this option before running your search. The search criteria will be saved for you the next time you log back on to iProfile Recruiter Account. You can save the criteria for multiple searches by using the Saved Searches function. For more information on Saved Searches please take a look at the Saved Searches video.

Clear Search

If you want to start a new search simply click on Clear Search and all your previous search criteria will be cleared from the screen ready for you to enter your new criteria.
